Teaching Day | Sep 2, 2024
Greeting
Dear colleagues new to the field of complement,
Basic knowledge about the complement system, is critical to preserve the quality of complement research. To help scientists getting acquainted with the different and complex facets of the complement system, the EMCHD local organizing team will organize a Teaching Day on September 2, 2024. The teaching day is designed as an interactive event for scientists new to the field of complement.
The Teaching day will comprise lectures in the morning, which will impart a basic understanding of the pathways and their activation, regulation and cross-talk of complement with other parts of the immune system. Further, such lectures will provide insights into translational aspects of complement including current development in complement diagnostics and therapeutics. All topics will be presented in 30-minute talks given by leading experts in the field.
The afternoon sessions are designed as interactive seminars, which will focus on defined topics such as the role of complement in kidney diseases, infection and cancer as well as complement genetics and tools to explore anaphylatoxin receptor signaling and function. Such sessions will give the opportunity to work and discuss the different topics in small groups guided by expert tutors.
To further encourage the discussion between scientists new to the complement field and distinguished complementologists, we will give the trainees the opportunity to meet with complement experts during lunch time in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
We hope that you will find this concept attractive to facilitate your entry into the field of complement. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to the EMCHD 2024 Teaching day.
Kind regards,
The organizing team,
