Science Slam
Science Slam – Open for Submissions NOW
For the first time, the EMCHD meeting will feature a Science Slam, organized and hosted by the Early-Career-Complementologists (ECCO) together with the local organization committee (LOC), including prizes for the two best presentations!
A science slam is an educational and entertaining event where scientists present their research in short (10 min), engaging talks to a general audience. The aim is to communicate complex scientific ideas in a clear and entertaining way, often using visuals, experiments or storytelling. Some inspiring examples can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/@scienceslamenglish.
The event will take place during the Welcome reception at the historic St. Petri church and will feature both a professional slammer and two selected Early-Career Researcher (ECR) applicants, each of whom will receive a 500 € prize.
To enter, please submit a brief outline of your intended science slam including your topic and your approach to staging it, by June 30th via mail to ecco@complement.org.
After reviewing your submission, we will contact you to confirm your participation. You will then have until the 30th of June to prepare an initial 5-minute pitch of your science slam, which will be presented to a panel of reviewers from the ECCO Committee and the LOC via an online meeting.
We encourage you to think outside the box! Create a presentation that communicates your complement research through stories we can all relate to - adventures, fairy tales, mysteries, quests driven by curiosity and compassion. Demonstrate that science can be as entertaining as it is informative!
ECR Pub Quiz
A Pub Quiz for early career researchers will be held in the picturesque Bar Celona restaurant. If you want to take part in the Ecco Pub Quiz event, please choose this option during your registration at the Ticket shop.
